Inside the Little Story of the World.

Every Monday, our residents at Manor Lodge set off on a journey around the globe, all without leaving the comfort of home. It is called the Little Story of the World, and it has quickly become a highlight of the week.

Each session, we discover a different country, culture or moment in history. We explore it through fascinating artefacts, treasured objects and the wonderful stories that bring each place to life.

A little journey, every week

The idea is simple. Every week we pick somewhere new to explore, and we travel there together in our own way. One week it might be a faraway country, the next a piece of history or a tradition from the other side of the world.

Along the way, there is always plenty to look at, hold and talk about. The objects and stories spark memories, questions and conversation, and everyone is welcome to join in as much or as little as they like.

More than a bit of fun

It is a joy, but it is about more than passing the time.

Exploring the world together encourages conversation, reminiscence and learning. It gives everyone the chance to share their own memories, ask questions, and discover different cultures side by side, all in a relaxed and friendly setting.

For many of our residents, a country or an object brings back a story of their own. A place they once visited, a memory from years ago, or something they have always been curious about. Those moments of connection are what make it so special.

The wonderful thing about the Little Story of the World is that the adventure never really ends. There is always another country to visit, another story to uncover, and another little piece of the world to enjoy together.
