OUR CARE

Staying healthy, well and cared for

When someone moves into one of our homes, their healthcare doesn't stop – it continues with the same attention and expertise they'd expect anywhere else, but with the added benefit of having it coordinated and supported by people who know them well.

We work alongside GPs, nurses, consultants and specialists to ensure every person receives the healthcare they need, when they need it, with as little disruption as possible to daily life.

Staying healthy, well and cared for

Our Care

GP care and regular health monitoring

Local GP registration

Residents normally register with our local GP practices, though we can accommodate existing GP relationships where possible. Regular health reviews ensure any concerns are caught early, and prompt appointments mean issues are addressed quickly.

Health monitoring

Our care teams know residents well – they notice subtle changes in mood, appetite, mobility or wellbeing that might signal a health concern. This early awareness means we can act quickly, involving healthcare professionals before small issues become bigger problems.

DON’T TAKE OUR WORD

Hear from our families

“My father has always been the rock of our family, and watching him struggle with his health was incredibly difficult. RMD Care changed everything. The caregivers don’t just meet his needs—they connect with him, listen to his stories, and treat him with the respect he deserves. It feels like they’ve become an extension of our family, and that peace of mind is something I can’t put a price on.”
“The team noticed Dad's appetite had changed and contacted the GP straight away. They caught a treatable infection early, before it became serious. That's the benefit of having care staff who really know the people they look after."
"Having nurses on site at Cams Ridge means Mum's complex medical needs are managed professionally, but she doesn't have to keep going to appointments. The nurses coordinate everything, and I'm kept informed about her health throughout."

FOR PEACE OF MIND

Healthcare Support Across Our Homes

Hospital consultants and specialists

We arrange referrals to hospital consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians and other specialists as needed. We coordinate appointments, provide full medical histories, and ensure follow-up care is carried out properly.

Regular visiting services

  • Chiropody – Every six weeks (additional charge)
  • Optician visits – Arranged to the home when needed
  • Dentist appointments – Coordinated as required
  • Medication reviews – Regular checks with GPs and pharmacists

At Cams Ridge and Bentley Lodge, having treatment rooms on site means many healthcare appointments can happen without residents needing to leave home – reducing stress and making care more convenient.

Nursing care

Available at Cams Ridge and Bentley Lodge

For people with complex ongoing health conditions that require clinical support from registered nurses 24/7.

Our nursing teams provide:

  • Medication management and administration
  • Clinical observations and health monitoring (blood pressure, blood sugar, oxygen levels)
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Catheter and PEG feeding support
  • Management of chronic conditions (COPD, Parkinson's, diabetes, heart disease, post-stroke care)
  • Liaison with GPs, consultants and healthcare professionals
  • Pain and symptom management
  • End-of-life care

Having registered nurses on site around the clock means medical concerns are addressed immediately, medications are managed safely, and families have the reassurance that clinical expertise is always available.

When health needs change

Staying with us

Whilst most of our homes are registered for residential rather than nursing care, our policy is that residents stay with us for as long as they wish, even if health needs increase.

We work closely with district nurses and healthcare professionals to provide additional support as required, rather than asking people to move elsewhere when they need us most. At Cams Ridge and Bentley Lodge, having 24/7 nursing care on site means we can support people with increasingly complex health needs within the same home.

Coordinated care

When someone's health changes, we don't just react – we coordinate. We bring together GPs, specialists, family members and our own care teams to create plans that support wellbeing whilst respecting wishes and maintaining dignity.

Healthcare in dementia care

Specialist understanding

Supporting someone with dementia through healthcare appointments, treatments or hospital visits requires particular skill. Our teams understand how to:

  • Explain procedures in ways that reduce anxiety
  • Support people who may not understand why something is happening
  • Advocate for residents who struggle to communicate their needs
  • Maintain routines and familiarity even when healthcare disrupts normal life

Hospital liaison

When hospital treatment is necessary, we provide full medical information to hospital staff, maintain contact throughout the stay, and ensure smooth transitions back home. We know how disorienting hospitals can be for people with dementia, and we do everything possible to minimise that distress.

Healthcare that supports wellbeing

Good healthcare isn't just about treating illness – it's about supporting overall wellbeing:

  • Nutrition – Home-cooked meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
  • Hydration – Ensuring people drink enough throughout the day
  • Mobility – Encouraging gentle exercise and movement
  • Mental stimulation – Activities that keep minds engaged
  • Social connection – Reducing isolation and loneliness
  • Sleep – Supporting good sleep patterns and rest
  • Fresh air – Time in gardens and outdoor spaces

These foundations of health are built into daily life here, supported by our care teams who understand that preventing health problems is just as important as treating them.

We understand the worry, the questions, the guilt that comes with it.

These aren't words on a page. It's what drives every decision we make – from who we recruit to how we train our teams, from the way we design our spaces to how we plan each day.
