RMD Care is a family-run group named after our grandfather’s initials, R.M.D. When he needed care, we looked after him as a family. That experience showed us what good care should feel like and inspired us to create homes where others feel the same.
RMD Care was founded by Mr Merali Senior and we're led day-to-day by his two sons Abbas and Riyaz Merali. You'll still see them in our homes, talking with residents, supporting teams, and making sure the family and caring values we started over 30 years ago are alive in everything we do.
Our story began in 1992, but it really started when we cared for our grandfather. That experience taught us the power of kindness, consistency and dignity, and inspired us to create homes where others feel the same.
From the start, it was a family effort: Mum in the kitchen, the rest of us helping after school and at weekends. We learned that good care means patience, familiarity and seeing the person, not the condition.
We understand what families go through because we have been there. That is why people tell us they feel reassured from the first conversation.

After more than three decades providing residential, nursing
and dementia care, we’ve learned that great care comes from listening, learning and staying personal. We listen to your loved one, their preferences, routines and what brings them comfort and joy.
We learn from families what matters most when they trust us with someone they love.
Those early lessons still shape every RMD Care home today. wWe know that independence and dignity go hand in hand. In a safe, homely environment, many people rediscover confidence and freedom. At RMD Care, life is to be lived and loved, with choice at the heart of every day.
We understand the worry, the questions, the guilt that comes with it. That's why we're here to walk alongside you, every step of the way.
These aren't words on a page. It's what drives every decision we make – from who we recruit to how we train our teams, from the way we design our spaces to how we plan each day.
Many of our staff have been with us for years, bringing the consistency that builds trust and genuine relationships.
Every person has the right to make decisions about their own life. Independence and respect go hand in hand.
From gardening and baking to music and outings, we focus on connection and purpose, not just keeping busy.
Every team member is trained to the highest standards, with dementia understanding at the heart of our approach.
Care is not just about safety; it’s about the small moments that make life worth living.
When someone moves in, they truly become one of us, celebrated, included and cared for with love.
